Rowanberry liquer

Rowan Berries have healing effects on the digestion, the liver and the lung.
The most funny method to try the taste of rowanberry is a home made rowanberry liqueur.

"Rowanberry liqueur"

- 1 kg rowan berries
- 1l strong spirit /or vodka/
- 2 cups sugar
- 0,25 l water

Pick the rowan berries after the first frosts /or put them to the fridge for one night/. Then dowse several times with boiling water.. Tip into a demijohn and add 1 l of alcohol. /If it is a spirit add a glass of clean water/.
After two weeks prepare a syrup from the sugar and water. Boil, skim, add the spirit drained off from the rowan and leave for one day. Then strain through filter-paper into bottles. Wait a few months ;)

Pierogi with cabbage and mushrooms

I love pierogi... not only stuff with cabbage. I put sweet cheese inside or sometimes nice fruits... Depends on the day and on the season of the year...

"Pierogi with cabbage"

- 450g flour
- 1 egg
- 2 tablespoons oil
- water

For stuffing:

- 150g dried mushrooms or 100g fresh
- 1 onion
- 1 spoon of butter
- salt, pepper

Sieve flour on a table, adding 1 egg and oil and 2 spoons warm water. Knead very thoroughly until there is no sticking to the table.
Pour water, add mushrooms and wait until will be soft. Cut them and fry on a pan with onion, salt and pepper.
Cook the cabbage and slice.
Mix cabbage and mushrooms together and cool it.

Cut out circles from the rolled - out dough and stuff before closing up pierogi.
Cook in a large pan of salty water. Serve hot with a butter.
